Scout privacy policy

Effective September 9, 2026

Scout is a private job application assistant. It fills answers you reviewed on your encrypted Scout board and can draft answers for questions found on employer and ATS application pages you choose. Scout never submits an application.

Data Scout handles

Scout may handle the application URL, job title and description, visible form questions, answers you approved, profile contact fields, the original resume file stored on your device, and parsed resume text. This information is used only to recognize the application, fill the form at your request, attach your resume, and draft answers.

Storage and retention

The extension keeps its board connection, stored resume file, staged application data, and any user-approved embedded-provider origins in Chrome session storage. This data stays on the device, is cleared when the browser session ends, and can also be cleared by locking the board or turning off sync. Connections expire after 12 hours, and staged applications expire after seven days even within a continuing session.

Network use and sharing

Opening the extension and filling reviewed answers does not send application data to an employer beyond writing values and attaching the resume you selected into the employer form in your browser. When you choose Draft with Scout, the question, relevant job context, and parsed resume text are sent over HTTPS to Scout's private drafting service solely to generate the requested draft. The extension includes no advertising or analytics and does not sell personal data.

Permissions

Storage holds short-lived session state. Active tab and scripting access let Scout fill only the secure application page where you click the extension. Limited host access recognizes established ATS forms and connects to the Scout board and private relay. If a company embeds a visible application from another secure provider, Scout asks you for optional access to that provider before filling it; locking Scout revokes origins granted this way.

Your control

You review every generated draft, filled field, and attached resume yourself. Scout never clicks the employer's submit button. Removing the extension, ending the browser session, locking the board, or disabling board sync clears or makes the session data inaccessible.

Chrome Web Store limited use

Scout's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the application-assistance features described here.
